Parks & Recreation Department

The Town of Mountain City has two parks located in the city limits of Mountain City.

John Cunningham Park is located on College Street adjacent to the Community Center in downtown Mountain City and has a playground, pickleball courts, swimming pool facilities, and a little league baseball field with concession stand.

Ralph Stout Park is located in the heart of Mountain City along Highway 421 and includes a pond, both paved and mulched walking trails, bicycle trail, baseball and softball fields, playground, picnic areas with pavilions, disc golf course, a skateboard park, basketball courts and horseshoe pits. For a map of the disc golf course at Ralph Stout Park, click here.

Our Veteran’s Memorial Wall is also located in Ralph Stout Park and is a tribute to all the brave men and women from Johnson County and Mountain City who served our great country in some branch of service.  This memorial wall is a treasure to our small town and we are so proud to have been able to be a part of its construction in our park and a pump track. The Goose Creek Trail is also located in Ralph Stout Park.  This trail is a one-mile paved and concrete walking and bicycling trail, with several wooden bridges, that runs through a portion of Ralph Stout Park and ends at the Johnson County Welcome Center.

Maintenance and upkeep of the parks are the responsibility of the Superintendent of Public Works by calling (423) 727-6651.
